A week and a half's worth of purchases got deducted all at once yesterday. Fantastic.
I need to scurry to cash checks and lean on debtors tomorrow.

Bah
Oh no, I'm sorry. Did I say two mirror directory trees? I meant several. 5.6.1, 5.6.6, and 5.6.8. Some in /sw/lib/, some in /usr/local/lib/, some in /Library/Perl/. I don't know what the heck is going on.
[Edit: Apparently I didn't actually say two mirror directory trees.]

Documentation
I wouldn't have these problems if I had taken more care to note all the changes I made to the system as I was making them. I've got stuff installed everywhere, different versions of things, paths all wonked out...
I'm just saying. During the first week or so of this computer, I was meticulous. Now, not only have I not recorded anything, I can't even find the file I originally was keeping notes in.
Words of warning, I suppose.

Perl
I'm experiencing the growing, sinking feeling that I'm going to have to try to reinstall a fresh copy of Perl. It's been flaking out, and my file structure is all out of whack. How did this happen?
A few months ago, I ran into a problem and felt that the solution was to update Perl (from 5.8.1 to 5.8.8). This was probably not the solution, but it was also very early in the morning, so I did it anyway. Possibly also as a result of this, I didn't do it correctly. I sort of half installed it, and I currently have files scattered all over. Now cpan is failing in ways no one on the internet (the internet according to Google) has seen before.
Perl itself works fine for the most part. But it gets confused when I try to use some modules.
This isn't going to be fun. I'm tempted to just wait for the next version of OSX to come out and use that as an excuse to do a fresh install of everything.

Stargate
I just finished watching the last season of Stargate SG-1. Pretty awesome. Sweet ending to an incredible series. Surprised they didn't bring back Jack for a bit. I'd gotten used to the new guy, though, so it wasn't all bad. Disappointed Daniel isn't coming over to Atlantis. Carter is a close second though.
Jarring though, going back to watching the relatively lame Deep Space Nine.
"The Federation may call them wormhole aliens, but I worship them as Prophets."
Er, yeah... Creepy. They're just using you to get at your juicy devotion energies and destroy the Q. Stupid Bajorans.

I'm Back
Well, I'm back. I went to Africa. I went to DefCon. I'll talk about those places later.
Look at this video. This video is awesome.
[Edit: Oh right. Can't forget Windows 386.]
